All uploaded artwork files, once confirmed by the customer and payment has been received, undergo a prepress check that verifies their printability.

The file check covers:

Dieline

  • match between the dieline and the one downloaded from Packly
  • material match
  • dimension match

Artwork

  • resolution of images and raster effects
  • bleed correctly extending across windows and cutouts
  • correct layer separation

Finishes

  • thickness and size of finished elements
  • correct application of the finish
  • coverage of the embellished surface
  • correct overprint settings
  • absence of CMYK elements under the foil

Safety distances

  • between finishes and cut or crease lines
  • between windows or cutouts and graphic elements
  • between graphic elements, frames and dieline lines

Environmental labelling

  • presence and correctness of the PPWR reference
  • presence and correctness of FSC™ and PEFC™ references, only if required by the order

Important: RGB colours and generic spot colours will be automatically converted to CMYK.

The exceptions are the Packly dieline's spot colours and the spot colours correctly created and renamed for windows, custom cutouts and finishes (for example Custom-Cut, Custom-Crease, Custom-Perf, Gold, Silver, Varnish).

These colours must never be used for ordinary graphic elements, as they represent the product's processing information: if used incorrectly, graphic elements created with these spot colours may not be printed.

Once the check is complete, you will receive an email about the file's validation status. If the file has issues, the email will detail exactly what needs to be corrected: you can then upload the corrected PDF and confirm it again in your MyPackly account, on t the relevant order. Valid files will be sent straight to print and can no longer be modified.

No check is carried out on text content, chosen colours, the positioning and orientation of graphic objects, etc.

The shipping date will be confirmed in the artwork validation email: it is calculated from the moment of validation, based on the production priority chosen when ordering.
