Colavita, among the most recognized brands for extra virgin Made in Italy olive oil, has chosen to celebrate the shared international passion for the world of football with an initiative outside the box: a limited edition with an unpublished design, as memorable as it is, featuring a bottle in the shape of a soccer ball.

An object that, even before being a product, is a statement of style: to live up to its uniqueness, it required packaging capable of enhancing every detail, protecting it during transport to international markets, and communicating its value at first glance.

This is where Packly comes in, asked to develop the custom box destined to accompany this special bottle around the world. Not a standard supply, but a tailored project born from a close dialogue between Colavita’s creative needs and the technical and production feasibility required by an anything-but-conventional shape.

In the following interview, Colavita talks about how the idea was born, the challenges it faced, its international distribution, and how collaborating with the Packly team made it possible to transform a bold concept into industrializable, elegant, and durable packaging.

How did the idea of creating packaging dedicated to the world of football come about, and what goal did you want to achieve with this custom project?

The idea was born of a desire to celebrate football, the sport that best represents Italianness, through exclusive, iconic packaging conceived as a true collector’s item. The goal was to unite two symbols of Made in Italy. The excellence of extra virgin olive oil and the passion for this sport. So we gave birth to a limited edition that excites consumers and pays homage to a feeling that touches millions of people around the world.

The product will be distributed in international markets. What needs did the packaging have to meet to accompany a project of this magnitude?

Since it is about an edition specially designed for international markets, we built a package that highlights the bottle’s exclusive design, making it highly visible and a key feature, while also ensuring the necessary protection during transport. The goal was to combine aesthetics and functionality, offering a premium experience at first glance.

From the initial idea to industrial production, what were the key stages of the journey developed in collaboration with Packly?

The starting point was a brief that defined the project’s goals and the characteristics the packaging needed. From that moment on, a process of close collaboration with the Packly team developed, during which we worked side by side to transform the idea into a concrete solution. Each phase was characterized by continuous comparison, with the goal of combining our creative vision and the brand’s needs with the technical and production constraints, resulting in an industrializable packaging that fully met the project objectives.

How would you describe your collaboration with Packly, and what aspects of the support you received contributed most to the project’s success?

From the early stages of the project, the Packly team proved extremely enthusiastic, proactive, and open to discussion. This collaborative spirit allowed us to explore various design solutions and jointly overcome technical constraints, identifying the most effective alternatives without losing sight of the initial objectives. The professionalism, precision, and speed with which each phase was managed also made the difference: elements that contributed significantly to the project’s success and on-time delivery.

A synergy that makes the difference

The Colavita project confirms that behind stunning packaging lies teamwork that involves listening, technical expertise, and a shared vision. Transforming such a distinctive creative concept into an industrializable solution required a challenging balance between aesthetics, product protection, and production feasibility, achieved only through the constant exchange of Colavita’s creative expertise with Packly’s technical and production knowledge.

It’s precisely this synergy that makes the difference in projects of this scale: international in scope, complex in structure, and unique in ambition. Packly thus confirms its position as a partner capable of accompanying brands through every stage of the process, from the initial brief to production. offering tailored consultancy whenever a project requires going beyond the ordinary to transform a great idea into a global success.
